PACE ABSN Jan 2023

Published

Creating this for those applying to the ABSN program entering Jan 2023 at the PACE Westchester campus.

Hey guys! I am student in the Pace ABSN program set to graduate in december. If you guys have any questions let me know I will try my best to help answer any. I thought I would post here because I used allnurses when I applied to nursing school. Just a few tips.. make sure you take advantage of talking to the Pace RN4 students because for at least the first semester they have taken the professors you will have. Make sure you do well on the first couple exams of the semester like patho/pharm and funds because out of 88 student we were left with 66 in the Summer mostly because they started off drowning. for patho pharm.. if you have paradiso GO TO HER REVIEW to hone in but still study everything from the powerpoints you won't pass if you don't.. for iwama/fundamentals pay attention in class, study the powerpoints and do the coursepoint.. same thing for psych both classes are fair. Summer - henderson/maternity/L&D- makes it tough -go through the powerpoints especially the bold/red and work hard on that class especially if your a dude and don't know that stuff.. you should spend the most time on that after med surg and patho pharm. peds and med surg were fair. patho pharm same thing go to the review and review notes. Last semester I cant say much yet but the clinicals process sucked. Pace placement is probably better then northwell if you want a competitive unit. They say its random but they definitely play favorites on the clinical placement. if I didn't have a job as a pct in an ICU I would probably be mad about it.. I got my last choice med surg LOL.. so no strategy for that. for the elective take health assessment or Onc unless you want to write papers. oh yeah and Kaplan end of the semester test make sure you either read the basics texts and do the review exams or use the Kaplan flashcard for that section.. the flashcarsh are the basics book broken into flashcards.

Overall if I could do it again. I would probably still be at pace even though it has a lot of flaws. Mostly because I didn't get into rutgers and the other program I got into was 16 months.. I would say the major flaws being its expensive and clinical placement team is trash.. I could literally do better on my own. I think my med surg clinical was the only good one and the tuition is close to 70K in total with $0 in grants or financial aid.

Good luck on your applications!! if you have any questions feel free to ask me.

The deadline just passed on September 15, does anyone know how soon we should hear back from them?

I just applied a few days ago! Anyone else apply for this upcoming semester? Does anyone mind sharing stats etc.

A friend of mine heard back today! I haven’t yet, has anyone else?

When did she submit her application? Did she end up getting in?

She submitted 9/11 and yes she got in. Maybe they look at newer apps first? I heard they don’t even begin to review until 9/15.

Congratulations to her acceptance! Do you know what type of stats she had to get in? Also what did she find out through email or mail?

I believe her science GPA and overall were 3.2-3.3 with medical scribing hours. And she was sent an email saying her status was updated and to log into portal where she found her acceptance letter. I see in previous years they have had acceptances go out almost weekly so fingers crossed!

Hi! I also got my acceptance yesterday, I got an email saying to check my portal for the decision
