License from your country especially in the Philippines is essential if you wanted to be assessed by Queensland Nursing Council. I think its better for you to take the licensure test because they might be asking for your license in Australia. How'd you going to prove that your a licensed nurse from your country if you dont have the license?

Unlike in USA that doesnt require the PRC license, Australia would require the license before they can assessed your competency level.

I agree with gwenith you must be registered nurse, If you are not registered in the Philippines you may be required to prove competence by undergoing a test in Australia.

If you want to proceed why not try to send your application to Queensland Nursing Council first and let them decide on what you should do next. Anyway they will be the ones that will decide on your case, and you got nothing to lose by asking, right?

Where in Australia would you want to work or live?

Victoria (Melbourne)

New South Wales (Sydney)

Queensland (Brisbane and Gold Coast)

Western Australia (Perth)

South Australia (Adelaide)

Tasmania (Launceston and Hobart)

Each state has different requirement like for example in Perth Western Australia you can apply for STNI State Territory Nominated without the IELTS - it is much faster and easier for some who doesnt have all the complete requirements, but since you already have your IELTS with you, just research on which state would you want to live and work first and then we'll try to decide from there.

Once you have decided where you want to live and work, you will write to the Nursing Council of the State to apply for state licensure.

You have 2 options in Australia. working visa - 457 and the general skilled migration path.

Unlike in the US that you need a hospital to sponsor the nurse in Australia you can do it independently without the hospital sponsor. Some prefer the pathway of having an agency or a hospital that will sponsor them. Some would want to do it on the GSM path.

For as long as you have a valid licence in Australia, you may be able to apply for New Graduate programmes if you do not have experience. I have heard of someone who got in as a new grad...........just can't recall where in Qld. Best wishes;)

1. Can you advise us on How many years of work experience in Philippines or in India would be needed by the average nurse in order to get hired in Oz.

2. Do all nurses from Asia HAVE to undergo the Bridiging course? Or do they have a cut off. For example: If you have 1-3 years of work exp. then you HAVE to do the bridging course. And if you have more than 3 year - then it is waived?

3. Cost and details of the Bridiging course.
