I’m a fairly new oncology nurse but we always use D5W. Google “oxaliplaton hates the cold”. You will find an article from the ons, in this article it states oxaliplatin is not compatible with NS. Hope that helps.

Oxaliplatin is NOT compatible with NS!!! You need to mix it in D5W and have D5W as your primary!!!

Use only D5 w/Oxaliplatin since it is not compatible with NS.

Its not compatible with NS
You need also to flush the line with D5w before and after oxaliplatin infusion.

Does anybody else have experience of intra-hepatic Oxali via an arterial port-a-cath?
Do you routinely put analgesia in place during administration? What's your arterial port-a-cath flushing policy?
