U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone was accepted to the Januray 2010 accelerated program. If so did they advise where the classes are and what the affiliated hospitals are?

Thanks!

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Just surfing the site and saw your post....applications for OU Accelerated 2010 (Jan) program (it's deadline was October 1st 2010) so most of us won't know if we got in or not until Mid November(that's my assumption) Also what campus are you referring too, I think there is one located at Lawton-Duncan, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and San Diego??Not sure if all of the campuses deadlines are the same. Also I have a question for anyone reading this..Far as OU's GPA system...I have a 3.5 Cumulative G.P.A, but my science is supremely low, because of the Chemistry and Microbiology, I had a D my first try in Chemistry and a C in Micro (Right now, I'm taking Chemistry again) I think i will be able to manage a B, but if I'm calculating my science G.P.A correctly that would make my Science G.P.A a 2.3, Do you think that even though the science G.P.A is low, that they will look at the Cumulative G.P.A also, and make a judgement based on that, or do they look at the science G.P.A solely, thanks in advance, Angela

I think the OU in referrence is the OU in Michigan, Rochester. Right Lisa?

My mistake, thought this thread was for oklahoma...

Hi Huggiebear,

welcome to the MI forum.

i know what you are talking about when it comes to chemistry. i was lucky i took gen chem first and then organic chem and managed to do well. i don't know if i would have made it with org. before taking gen chem. work hard and you'll be fine. micro was challenging too and had people in my class who were repeats-i tell you it made me study like no one's business.

Sorry can't help with your question, hopefully someone from Okla. will respond.

Hi Lisa,

a side note, when is the pilot program offered for the summer cohort? I am trying to plan a trip and need to know if and when it will be offered next winter.

Hi, I saw your post and I wanted to help a little. I actually graduated from the program in Dec 2007. I wanted to wish you good luck. The program was truly **** on earth pretty much the whole way through. Looking back on it now, my friends and I are truly astonished that we made it though. Just keep your head up, concentrate, work hard and know that nursing will be your life for the next 12 months. When you are done, you will be shocked that you did something that was so crazy and you can tell people that you went to nursing school in a year!!! One big piece of advice is to check email often. A lot of opportunities, including clinical placement are first-come, first-serve and you are notified through email. Good luck and God bless. You can PM me if you have any other questions

I got my acceptance letter on Saturday. Yuhhuuuuuuuuuuu. I'm so excited, after being rejected in July for another school.

Keep your hopes, I hope you all get in as well.

I heard they accepted only 24 students but there are some on the waiting list.:yeah:

Wow,

You just got your acceptance letter to the winter 2010 cohort?

When do you start??

Lisa,

I was quickly skimming the thread, but if you were wondering about where your classes and such will be, I inquired this myself as I am supposed to start Fall 2010. The director told me that by the time the Fall 2010 starts, they expect to have all of the classes permanently at Riverview Center in Detroit.

This obviously helps me immensely with gas and car wear and tear because I'm from Downriver. Having to drive to Macomb 5 days a week would have absolutely sucked.

I start on January 18th. I applied to the Glendale Campus, so you guys don't freak out if you applied to different ones and didn't hear from them yet. ;)
