Two questions on osteoporosis:
1.Which is better when the patient is diagnosed with osteoporosis: swimming or walking aka weight bearing or nonweight bearing?
I'm taking a quiz in the Success series and it says that weight bearing exercises are better when you're diagnosed but I genuinely remember my teacher saying swimming is the best since it's nonweight bearing.
2.Doesn't osteoporosis pain decrease with movement?
Was taking a success question and it said that the patient was too much in pain to get out of bed and take a shower--what should the nurse do? I said to let the patient stay in bed until the pain becomes bearable but the Success question said that you encourage the patient to get out of bed and go take the shower. I thought you rested between activities and pain increased with movement.

Hi!
We are happy to help but we ask all of our students to tell us what they think first.....we will them jump in to help. If this is a quiz for a grade, many schools would consider asking for help academic dishonesty.
I put my responses underneath each question. The first I thought swimming aka nonweight bearing and the second I thought osteoporosis pain increases with movement. Maybe I'm just confusion osteoporosis with osteoarthritis? This lecture was slightly all over the place

Weight bearing exercise if best for osteoporosis - you're not confusing osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and RA are you?
