It's been many years since I worked with any ortho cases........What does C.S.M. mean ? I cannot remember this acronym ! Thanks.

isn't that the thing they call managers at Wal Mart?

I was thinking that you were referring to continuous passive movement, until I re-read... sorry, I'm not an ortho nurse, I am of no help at all!

Just had a senior moment reprieve.........it's C.M.S ....... circulation, motion, sensation !

Specializes in Oncology/Haemetology/HIV.

Circulation, Sensation, Movement

We have one extra - CSWM, Colour, Warmth, Sensation, Movement

Continuous Passive Movement:wink2:

cms and cpm are different...

cms.. circulation (or color), sensation, movement... after a hip or knee surgery you want to know that the patient can feel and wiggle the toes on the affected (as well as nonsurgical) extremity... its ok if they cant feel or wiggle, its normal due to what anesthesia they had, you need to make sure they are progressing in a timely manner back to positive cms

cpm, continuous passive motion, is a machine they use for post op knees so they dont get stiff, better for rehab and recovery
