Hi you guys,
I am thinking of doing the lpn program here at Orlando tech and just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this program or knows anything about it ( good or bad). Please help out if you can.
Thanks!
Well if no one has taken this program here it kind of makes me nervous.....maybe i should rethink.

Hmm... I don't want to bash Orlando Tech, but I can tell you a little about my experience. I was a student there a few years ago (had to relocate and never finished).
The day and evening programs are completely different. Back then, due to teacher retirements and resignations, a few brand spanking new teachers were hired for the evening program. It was a complete mess! They were overwhelmed, the lectures did not match the exams and contradicted the text, the student to instructor ratio at clinicals was insane (maybe 14 students to 1 teacher?), teachers were ALWAYS late to class (like 30 minutes). I know some students in my program complained to the director of nursing, and nothing came of it. Their concerns were ignored.
So with all this.... I can only tell that my personal opinion of Orlando Tech's evening program is very negative. I would not recommend it to anyone.
Keep in mind, however that the instructors may have changed by now... and that the day program is totally different. (It is actually the day instructors that write all the department approved exams.) During my time there, the day students had a completely different experience and many of them raved about the program.
You can always read what other students have to say here at Ratemyprofessors.com. Not much there, but enough to give you some idea of what the instructors are like.

Do a forum search for other posts about Orlando Tech (there are plenty on here).... opinions about the school seem to be mixed. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you luck! Take care!
Hey!
Thanks for responding. Yes this makes me a bit worried because i was looking into the evening program. hmm. Well i will look on rate my professor to see what they have to say and go from there. Thanks again

I just graduated from Orlando Tech in Sept. I have lots of things to say about that school. It's difficult, but doable. I have gripes too. I was in the day program. Very disorganized...Email me if you want to know more.
I would love to get more information! I don't think i have enough posts yet to PM anyone ( unless i am slow and just can't find how to do it) but i would LOVE to get more information. Like how was it disorganized? Is the waiting list as long as i have heard to get in? Do they stick with the hours that you were told you were giong to be doing? What are the hours of the daytime program. And other stuff lol. Thanks again for responding:D
EDIT: I think this last post gave me enough posts to start PMing! Anyway if you want to respond to me that way that's fine too.

Codeda,
My experience with Orlando Tech so far is ok. I passed the tabe and the net and turned in all the medical and dental paper work they need. I want to start in January 2009. They are very ummm.... I wouldn't say cold but you have to really want to do it and no one is going to baby you. The receptionist for the program I find to be very cold and not welcoming. But other than that I quess is ok. I know the afternoon part-time is program is 4 to 9 Monday to Thursday. The only other lpn programs here in Orlando I did my research on and half of them are private which are a arm and leg. SCC you need pre-req's to get in. They only offer the program one time a year in January. So Orlando Tech it is. Anyway, best of luck with your decision and maybe I'll see you in January.

I have heard that there is a really long waiting list. Have you found this to be true?
Well the best thing for you to do to find out about there waiting list is to call the practical nursing department. I think the number is 407-317-3741. They are there on Tuesday and Wednesdays. I know as long as you have your paperwork turned in your on the list. I know since its getting close to January they might be full or getting close to getting filling up. I turned mine in back in August. There is also a new school called Centura Institute but they are a private school so they probally are very expensive. There starting a brand new LPN program there. This would be the first one for them.

Hi!
Does any of you guys know when is the LPN program orientation? I also start in January 2009 (part time program), and I completed the registration in April. I'm to receive a letter from them saying when the orientation is. Did any of you receive a letter from them?
Thank You!
