I'm wondering if online schooling for my BSN is right for me. Please share your thoughts and experiences with me. Do you feel that it allows more flexibility than traditional schooling? Do you feel that the education from online is adequate? How long does it normally take to complete? Any schools you recommend?

KCRN13 - I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you already an ADN nurse and just looking to do ADN to BSN? If so, then yes - much of the BSN requirement is theory (i.e. professional nursing, research, etc.) and could potentially be accomplished online IF you could find a reputable, accredited program. However, around here, the ADN to BSN programs are only a year long and only meet one day a week so the classtime isn't really that overwhelming.
If you are asking about going directly into nursing via an *online* degree - then no, absolutely not. Do these programs even exist?

It would help to know at what stage you are at. I won't go into much detail now, as I'm unsure.
I'm in a RN to BSN progam that's 100% online, it's the same program as the traditional students are going through on campus. http://www.onlinenursing.fhchs.edu/
It's a private Christian school that's NLN approved and has pretty reasonable rates as far as private online schools are concerned.
Good luck in all you do.
You might want to also post this in the Distance Learning forum.

After earning my ADN I did part of the BSN and all of the MSN online. I think it is great once you learn how to manage your time. In many ways it is more difficult because you have to virtually (no pun intended) teach yourself. But then you realize that is what you do to retain information anyway. It took me 2 1/2 years to do my MSN online because I was working full time. I think the education was adequate because the content was theory and integration of knowledge, not clinical application. I do not know how people do with clinical requirements. Anyway, there are lots of schools. I attended Univ. of Texas and some of my "classmates" were in other states and one in the army in Germany.
