Hello community,
My GF and I have decided to pursue MSN-FNP online program that doesn't require on campus visits. We live on the East Coast. 100% online, virtual classrooms, etc. I know there's stigma with online FNP programs but hey this is what we want to do.
I've done hours of research and found these schools:
Maryville University
Ohio State University
Chamberlain University
Columbus State University
LaSalle University
DeSales University
Grand Canyon University
If you guys have any other "100% online MSN-FNP programs (no DNP)" to add I'd appreciate it.
Some Questions:
If you attended any of these schools, what was your experience?
100% Online or Visits necessary? Accredited?
Had to find clinical placements/preceptors? In your area or out of state? Is it in writing? Hands on skills training? How often? Group Projects? How many? GRE or no GRE required? Class Size? Out of state students, how was the tuition cost and fees for you?
Thanks in advance!

Dropping in because I'm interested as well. I won't be ready for about a year but it doesn't hurt to research ahead of time.

Can you define what you mean by "100% online" for the FNP program? Because I'm probably into my third year of research and stopping/starting a variety of different online programs now (including looking at the FNP track with schools such as United States University), and for the FNP I am not sure how it is possible to be 100% online due to the clinical hours you need to complete any FNP program. As a example, United States University has 100% online didactic portion, but you have to complete clinical hours practicum.
The only place where I have seen some programs differ is whether they require you to visit their campus for a lab intensive - some do, some don't. But I can't see any way around the clinical hours on-site.
As for the stigma - I wouldn't worry about that. I got my first MSN through the University of Phoenix online and have practiced with that for 10 years and no one has questioned it. There was no way I could get an advanced degree through a brick and mortar campus because I work more than 40 hours a week - online education has saved me and I am an advocate for online education for those who prefer it. I would question whether schools are saying you can get a FNP without clinical hours, however. But maybe I'm wrong.

I'm very interested too. My plan is to ask HR and the NPs at my job where/how they did it. Maybe a certain school has a relationship with my hospital/coworkers and getting clinical hours will be smoother?

Did you decide on a school? If so, what has been your experience?

Did you end up enrolling with USU? If so, is your experience?
