I was in tears when I finished watching this video clip.
I realize that nursing isn't as "pretty" as job recruiters want you to believe, and there will be days that make you want to pull your hair out, but I have been persuing this dream for so long.
Now, I'm torn between needing to work, especially for extra Christmas money and health insurance so that my husband can continue to build his business.
He doesn't understand "why" I want to do this, when I could help him, and make more money. He understands my dream, and says when I get accepted to nursing school I can quit working. I told him I don't think I can work and make an A on a 4 week Algebra class.
However, to get back to the point, I'm trying to deal with all of the "real-world" stuff going on in my household, and I came across this video.
It totally sums up what I am feeling, and I was in tears just by watching it and listening to it. I can totally relate. (The end is the tear jerker, so if you watch it, watch all of it.)

Thank you Fun 2 Care for this video! I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed lately and this has picked me up quite a bit. I have been separated from my husband and it's getting very stressful. I have to pass a calculus class to go to nursing school this January and lately, I've felt like giving up(well not giving up, just benn depressed lately) I have to move away from my family and go to Memphis and it's just been alot going on. this video was a reminder of what I'm trying to work for. thanks.
Oh, and good luck with your music and you algebra class. Sometimes people outside of nursing just don't understand do they? We could get another degree WAY easier and be done with it, but no we choose to go through the process of possible rejection and waiting not to mention the struggle to get through nursing school once actually in. God will bless you for your efforts.Don't give up.( I should be telling myself this).

Yep, that was my dillema too. My husband went 1099 because in his field it is easier to gain employment that way. But that meant I needed to go back to work, mostly for the health insurance. I've gone to work as a CNA, because at least I am in some way in the nursing profession (bottom of the totem pole but oh well), I get patient care experience and I get to see what the nurses do and ask them about their job. I also work the night shift- mostly weekend and get alot of studying done between my rounds.
Did you go to a CNA class at a college, or through a LTC?

And, here's some more videos for those of us considering labor/delivery nursing. The video clips are really for patients, but you'll still enjoy them.
