i have a BS in other subject than Nursing, can i get a assoicates rn and still be considered for BSN jobs. I know getting the BSN will be a lot more work

No, but some college's have bridge programs.

I think it just depends on you. I've seen two people where I work with ADNs advance to BSN-preferred positions. One went from floor nursing to management and then got a directorship job. Another went from floor nursing to case management. Both had proven their skills to the people who hired them and stayed within the organization. The first guy used his manager job to get a directorship at another hospital. Both these people had degrees in Business Administration. I wonder if their degree was in English or some liberal arts would they have advanced or not, I'm not sure.
So to answer your question. Yes it is possible to get BSN preferred jobs with another degree.

We had 2 Master's prepared teachers get their ADN so they could work. They they bridged into a BRN to Master's in Nursing. A s I remember it was about an 18 mo deal.
