I have been trying to find a way to look up nursing seminars, continuing education (even tho my state doesn't require them for my license), anything that I can go to keep LEARNING!!!
We hear about sporatic seminars, but only after a couple of people on staff have already gone to them. I would have really like to have gone to some of these seminars and would even pay to go out of my own (or my husband's)pocket.
Anyone got any good websites to find out about seminars for OB/NBN nurses.
Thanks,
Heather

Find out if there is a local group for OB nurses in your area, like a chapter of a national OB nurse organization. These groups often have seminars throughout the year at different hospitals. If you join the group, they'll mail out brochures for the seminars and conferences a few months beforehand so you'll have time to register. Also look into local hospital perinatal groups, as these often have nursing educational events. Try posting in your state forum here at this website to see if you can get in touch with OB nurses in your area that might have some info for you. Good luck!

We've resorted to calling some of the larger local hospitals and asking them if they have any OB conferences coming up. It works pretty well, and a lot of times they are free because they are geared towards their staff. They're usually happy to let people from outside (especially students like me).

Check the ILCA(International Lactation Consultant Association) website for Breastfeeding conferences @www.ilca.org
Symposia Medicus does great conferences, aimed at docotors, but nurses and midwives can attend and I always learn at those, www.symposiamedicus.org They have a conference on High risk obstetrics in the spring
Also try to get on the AWHONN site or mailing list

Do you belong to any nursing organizations? AWHONN sends out tons of brochures to hospitals and to me personally (sometimes too much)!
Also, does your unit manager post seminars?
