OFF topic

Hi everyone, i'm sorry for off, but I don't know who else to ask...

My classmate (also a nurse applying for AOS) is from Korea, and she divorced an american citizen about 6 months ago.

During the marriage, she applied for AOS based on marriage, got only her work permit, and shortly after that they divorced and she withdrew her case.

Right now she's in status-OPT.

Her ex husband is threatening her to call INS and lie, that their marriage wasn't real and she married him for immigration purposes.

Question: If he does what he says he will do, will she be in trouble???

P.S. The marriage was in good faith.

She has some pictures of both of them. Will that work as proof?

I feel sorry for this lady, but can't advice anything, since don't know anything abot marriage matters. She is very scared of being deported and stuff like that.

She needs to get her own attorney as quickly as possible. The one thing that she has going for her, is that she is a nurse, she can get the AOS changed over to her alone, and not with him involved. But she needs to do it right away. She will need an employer for this, and not just the OPT. She will need to get petitioned just as if she was not married, but she neds to do it as soon as possible.

You think INS will believe this guy and she will have problems?

We talked yesterday, she has an attorney, and they already filed for AOS last week.

Was the AOS filed for her as a nurse, or as the husband's dependent? If for her, then she should be just fine. she is doing it under her own person, and with a valid RN license.

I think this guy won't do that. I think her husband will be in trouble, too

But sides will be punished if marriage is fake, not just the foreigner.
