ODDS of getting a JOB

What are my chances of getting a position as an RN? I'm currently a nursing student graduating December 2016, hopefully. I will be a new grad with no experience and never worked as a Cna. Also I'm graduating from an Adn prpgram.

I have no idea. What is your job market like? What does your resume look like? Do you interview well? No random person on the Internet can tell you this. Your best bet would have been to research your job market ahead of time, before entering nursing school.

Also, start looking for jobs now.

Probably depends on the area you live in. Have you thought about working as a patient care tech? Then you could just get a job on the unit you already work on.

Agreed. Different locations are hiring different levels of nurses (LPN, ADN, BSN).

Does your school have career services?

CNA isn't required. It's just helpful for connections.

Thank you all for your replies. I know that no one knows whereas I will get a job or not. I'm trying to find out if people that were in similar situation were employed within a reasonable amount of time. BTW I live in Rhode Island

Checkout the website's for your local hospitals and see if any have new grad programs, look at what the open jobs are if they say experience required. It will at least give you an idea of what the local market looks like.

Thank you so much! Will do

You have a 6% chance.

My sister, who lives in Rhode Island was a new grad nurse with no experience. She applied for an RN job she saw posted in the newspaper for a home care agency that said it required a minimum of 2 yrs experience. She applied anyway thinking she had nothing to lose but a little time that it took to apply. She got the job!
