Certain narcotics for labor pain relief such as Fentanyl or Stadol
Nubain --for labor pain or itching related to local anesthetics used in epidural/intrathecal/spinal anesthesia.
Various locals, primarily Bupivicaines, for epidural use
Oral meds for postpartum pain,such as Ibuprofen, Toradol, Tylox/Percoset, Tylenol #3, Darvocet, etc.
Now, these are the most common medicines we have used or currently use where I work. This list does NOT include herbals/complimentary therapies used by midwives and other practicioners related to OB/midwifery care, of course.
These medicines are all listed in various drug books if you need to know their specific use(s) in OB.
