NYU Fall 2017 Application

Hey!

Is anyone applying to the ABSN program at NYU for this Fall 2017? I'm beginning the application and would like some advice! I've completed all prerequisites but repeating A&P 2 at a community college this semester (Spring 2017). Should I apply AFTER I've completed this class? It's from January to May. I took A&P 2 as an undergrad and received a C- so it definitely needs to be repeated.

Thanks in advance!

You can apply to NYU's ABSN program even before you have taken and completed the A&P, or any class for that matter. Make sure that you apply by the deadline. Your application will be under review and will not move forward until all of your grades have been submitted.

Thanks for the information!!

Hello! I'm also trying to apply for NYU Fall 2017 ABSN program. I'm super scared to apply because my undergrad GPA is not the greatest.. I recently graduated may 2016 but took most of my science prereqs this past summer/fall.

Undergrad GPA- 2.82

My prereq stats are:

ANP1- A

ANP2- A

Micro- A

Lifespan Development- A

Stats (from undergrad)- B-

Chem- (taking spring with hopeful A)

Nutrition- (taking spring with hopeful A)

I'm trying to write a passionate essay (which would describe how I'm only trying to improve myself from here on out) to balance it out with my low undergrad GPA :/

Also it seems like a pointless question.. but:

Is it better to submit a well thought out recommendation letter from an adjunct professor rather than an alright/ok letter from a Doctorate professor?

Other types of advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you :)

Hi,

from what I have heard, and read on NYU"s ABSN website, your undergrad/second degree's GPA should be a 3.0. However, given the fact they admit, so I've heard from current students, on average 200 students, you may still have a shot with your GPA. In terms of the rec letters, I would say submit both - the more the better! Good luck!

Hi xhee,

I would submit both! I think your prerequisite grades are fantastic, don't let your GPA stop you from applying - you never know!

Good luck,

B

Your thread has been moved to the Nursing Schools / Colleges forum where the other school specific discussions are. We hope you will receive additional responses in this new location.

Accepted at Vandy and Boston College and most likely going to Vandy for FNP. Good luck y'all! Hope once I submit my official paperwork one of you can get my spot!

Hey guys,

I'm finishing up my last sequence in the accelerated program here at NYU, so if you guys have any questions, I'm here to help!

Hey nem90!

That's so exciting, congratulations! Do you mind sharing what your undergraduate credentials looked like when applying? What has your overall experience with NYU's accelerated program? Is there enough support from the school?

Thanks,

B

Hi Nem90,

Congratulations on almost finishing the program and thanks for reaching out! I am very curious about the clinicals and am wondering if you had a strong/diverse clinical experience? Expanding on that, do you interact and work with patients with diverse backgrounds (socioeconomic and cultural)? Additionally, I would love to know if there any opportunities for ABSN students to get involved with research on campus? I know the accelerated curriculum is intensive but I am planning on going into a PhD program shortly after and would love to continue to conduct research.

Thanks for your help,

H.

Hi everyone!

I also applied for the NYU FALL 2017 ABSN program! My undergraduate GPA was 3.2 and so far I only took 4 prerequisite AP 1 (B+), PSY (B+), Nutrition (A) and Statistic (A). Taking AP 2, Chemistry now AND Microbiology in summer. I submitted 3 letter of recommendations from my jobs. I been working in Health related field for 4 years. My only worry is that I still don't have the grade for those remaining 3 courses. Do you guys think that will affect my chances for getting in the program? I was told that if I don't get it I need to wait a full year to reapply.
