Nursing Supplies

I'm sure this topic has been discussed on AllNurses.

I will start the Rn program at my CC in the Fall and I am now trying to purchase all the things I will need. My question is....what is the best brand stethoscope (affordable) , pen light, scissors. Also going to be buying some shoes...any certain brand that's the most comfortable?

Just looking for some suggestions from fellow students that had to get these things.

Thanks in advice!

For stethoscope I like my littmann classic se ii. I was able to have mine engraved with my name and it was about $80 with tax. I bought it from medisave.net I also have some alegria Debra's and although they aren't the prettiest shoe they sure are comfy for my clinical days. My school required all white shoes. The other items came in my mandatory lab bag. Look up the search bar and you will find lots of suggestions.

It's a beautiful day to save lives.

Thank you! I have heard that littman is the best

Littman lightweight (about 50$) is a great scope. Shoes really depend on you and your needs. We got scissors, penlight etc with a kit. Good luck!

I keep several pairs of bandage scissors in my work bag and always a pair in my pocket. I use them a million times a shift, wheather its to open up medication packages or do a dressing change. My trick is too buy them in wild colors, magenta, lime green, ect. That way people always know which are mine.
