Nurses General Nursing

Published

I'm a nursing student, and I'm done and graduate shortly; did anyone else strive to make 90's when really ur grade point doesn't make you the nurse you turn out to be on the job?

I just wanted to get through the classes. Of course I always wanted an A, but what I really wanted was to pass my classes and become a nurse. I was a c student in high school 25 years ago. Of course you want your nurse to be informed about everything , but I have seen very book smart nurses that have a horrible repor with people and horrible bedside manners. Rhonda

When I was in school I always strove for that "A" to fulfill personal goals/satisfaction.

I am not convinced though, that being an "A" student would make one a "better" nurse.

I carried a B-B plus through my undergrad days, including nsg school...I did it because more than one c was unacceptable to my nursing school at that time---but truly, I learned at least half of what I actually use on the floor after I graduated...my BSN program though, did prepare me to be more flexible as I transferred to different specialities and roles through the years.

Specializes in Pediatrics (Burn ICU, CVICU).

Yes, I did. It was a personal satisfaction thing.

Thank you so much, my thoughts exactly. I've got people in my class who compete for whos making the grade, but when you see them at clinicals you say to yourself," I wouldn't want that person as my nurse." Thanks

Thanks, I feel like it's not the grade but your personality and if you generally care for the people you take care of.
