Nursing Student

Published

Hi everyone, I am stressing out a little and thought I would share my story with other nurses/students/.

ok, so i am almost done with my first year of nursing school i am now taking med surg 2 and just found out that I aced my midterm, and my previous professors have always told me how passionate and confident i am about nursing school and how careful I am with my patients.

Couple of days ago I had my med surg 2 clinical it was our 3rd week when my professor wanted me to do something that we haven't gone over in our lab class which made me feel uncomfortable. She told me I am not confident and I might fail clinical and we only have one week left. I would like to know if this has ever happened to any of you because I think i am very confident and love what I am doing. Sometimes it's a little hard for me because english is my second language and I am working really hard to do well in every single class. I just think that I am not being treated fairly.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you so much in advance :)

((HUGS)) Your written word is perfectly understandable. I just do NOT understand nursing instructors!! YOU ARE A STUDENT. You are there to learn. Even as a RN if there is a procedure I have not done I looked it up and asked a staff member that knew it better. Even as a supervisor I would call upon certain staff members to look at a equipment that they knew better than I...there is NOTHING wrong with my confidence.

thank you so much!! I totally agree with you. I am a student I am there to learn and she expects me to know everything. She makes my life a living hell. :((((((((

That's tough! She should have helped walk you through it. There are always going to be things that haven't come up in lab, and part of your instructor's job is to help you through them.
