description of the specialty i work at a 24 bed combined intensive care unit. the medcen is a level i trauma center. the surgical patients may be neurosurgery, trauma, cardiac (intra-abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, or patients on an intra-aortic balloon pump) we also maintain profis to the 10th, 21st, and 31st combat support hospitals - csh. in an emergency we can "open up" and maintain 26 beds x 72 hours
educational requirements (formal degrees and continuing education) if you are referring to me: i have my bsn and am working toward my fnp. i have taken (and passed) the army critical care nurse course/8a and i will soon take the ccrn exam. being in the military i must keep up with ceu's [both military and civilian]
certification requirements do you mean to work in the unit? military: 66h is an rn/officer must have their bsn. a 68wm6 is a lpn/enlisted. civilian nurses can be either rn or lpn. obtaining ccrn is encouraged but not mandatory
identification of representative professional association not sure what you mean by this
duties performed provide collaborative care to critically ill patients
employment settings see above
personal/professional rewards of specialty. working as a military rn, serving my country and caring for the ac, rc(activated or tdy), and their family members/dependents, retired veterans that come to our medcen. when a patient or family member says "thank you" and asks if i will be their nurse again, priceless.
thanks a ton:flowersfo
