I just received a letter in the mail and find the offer almost too good to believe. This is a company that has been hired by a Magnet Hospital in Virginia to find RN's. The offer is $20,000 sign on bonus plus relocation
allowance to move minutes from Virginia Beach. Has anyone ever heard of this company and is it too good to be true?

i would proceed cautiously.
if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I get those Nursing Solutions letters no less than once per week. I just toss them. There is usually a reason they can't find/keep their own staff and have to hire companies like Nursing Solutions and offer huge signing bonuses. Magnet doesn't necessarily mean nurse-friendly (although that's how it is marketed). It doesn't hurt to investigate further, but as leslie suggested, I would proceed cautiously.

Rule One, and especially in nursing: If the offer looks to good to be true, then it probably is. If the place was so wonderful to work at, then why do they need to offer a $20,000 bonus? A relocation bonus, I can see, but anything more, and then there is a problem with the facility. Pure and simple.
If it is a bonus, how long to you ned to be there until you get it? Some could say that it was not payable until after at least two years of working there, and then that means that many do not last that long. Also remember that these bonuses are taxed by Uncle Sam, as non-earned income, so they are taxrd at a much higher rate. You would never seen anywhere near that amount.
And just because an agency says that they have soemthing, how do you know that they actually do. They can easily tell you that the job is no longer there and offer to place you some place else.
I would just put it in the circular file.
Thanks for you help, it has helped get my head out of the clouds and feet on the ground again. I knew it was too good but couldn't figure out the catch.
