Nursing schools

Have any of you found it is quicker to be accepted into a BSN program compared to the ADN. Here in PA the community college ADN program is a year or two wait. Is it the same for the four year colleges too? Im 33 and do not want to wait too long.

do you have a degree already? if so, try a second degree bsn or accelerated bsn program.

Unfortunately I don't have a degree. I was a cosmetologist for 10 years. I am taking my Math and Biology classes now. Looking forward to a second career in Nursing.

I am in North Central Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth). The BSN programs tend to be less competetive than the ADN programs. Applicants usually need at least a 3.8 grade point average to be accepted into an ADN community college program. However, I know several individuals who were accepted to the BSN program at the local state university with grade point averages ranging from 2.8 to 3.2.

It is even easier to get accepted into a private BSN program due to the horrendous cost of tuition. Baylor University has a BSN program, and applicants can get accepted with a 3.2 gpa.

It depends on the individual school here, we have excellent BSN and ADN programs. So I would say here the BSN and ADN programs are equally competitive.

Here in NH the BSN schools are much more expensive than the Community colleges so they have smaller waitlists, if any.

One of my classmates was a cosmetologist for many years. She was a little overwhelmed at the beginning but has done very well and she gets along with everyone in the class and at clinical with all that people experience. Best wishes to you!
