I have been in research nursing for 10 years. Presently not in one. I'd be glad to help you in any way I can.

Thats o.k we can do it by threads!

What kind of research have you recently participated in?

Can you describe your role in the research?

What tools did you use ( library, computer, measurement, statistics)

Can you explain your researcher expertise level in conducting research and how you gained your expertise?

As much as I'd love to help you with this, the moderater has asked for PM's to be sent to you. I can not help you in this capacity.

I feel bad about that, But I hope you get a willing participant and soon!

The request by staff for communication via pm was because in the beginning, OP needed to contact members privately for their contact information.

Since the OP has now posted questions instead of asking for telephone interview, feel free to answer here on the thread.;)

Well I got the go ahead, hope this helps you!

1. Hypertension meds Phase III, second line macro antibiotics Phase III, Company research for a new stethescope, and another company for oxcymeter.

2. My main role was to enroll patients willing to participate after the investigater (Dr. in charge of study) had helped in the qualification process. Before we even started enrollment I knew the outline of the FDA approved study inside and out. I always attended a national conference for not only the investigaters, but the CRA's as well. In the capacity of the Coordinator Reasearch Assistant, We held discussions as to how the mountains of paperwork needed to be filled out precisely. Very detail orientated. How to document in the pt's chart. ( As you are reviewed during the course of the study throughout it's length.) And most importantly how to gather the info, samples of blood or sputum or whatever else is required to perform the study and who is responsible for the outcomes: RE: which lab is being used, how are specimans handles etc. I was the 3rd highest enroller in the nation for the antibiotic study. So I had to keep very focused on what the protocal required. BP's, sitting, standing, orthotic, etc. Xrays needed and reports to follow. Blood or other bodily samples required followed through. A very important, but for me rare experience was what if the particpant was hospitalized? I had full medical priveleges set up by the investigater that allowed me to research charts, get blood drawn and I would have the tubes needed provided by the pharmeceutical company. Any deaths of a participant was a whole new regime of th protocal. Luckily I only had one. The paper work is very important and needs to be filled out precisely for each visit. I made certain forms that I would send home with patients that would help in this department. Medication sheets that the participant filled out for example. 3.Included in above statements.

4. I learned by myself after attending the conferences. I took this position on top of my regular duties. And I asked and was paid for my and I quote "nearly flawless work".

Something I am very proud of. I am a person of detail, I did not use a computer for any of my studies I was involved with. I would say I am not a novice but a good moderater of what is expected and take this arena very seriously, as it can involve and does involve people's lives. My first study I hired a consulant to help set up a home office as the study was a 16 country effort and papers needed to be faxed to Sweden.
