?Nursing programs still accepting applications for Fall '10?

I'm currently enrolled at a university, with a HORRIBLE GPA, I started out a pre-nursing but I feared not getting accepted and I never applied. Changed my major to health studies. Long story shorter....I STILL WANNA BE A NURSE. I've taken all my preq for nursing, and would love to enter a program (LVN/RN) for Fall '10. Not sure if I could get into a program that took my current gpa. I know some schools do not count gpa but look at preq. I know I'm late but I'm just hoping there's a program out there that is still accepting applications...Any advice would be GREAT...

I would advise you to raise your GPA before applying to be honest. Most of the programs I am aware of look at GPA in all courses as well as the GPA in just the pre-requisites and then has a few other criteria as well, such as HESI or PSB entrance exam etc. You will want to look at each individual school you are considering to find out their requirements. When you say "horrible GPA", it will depend on just how horrible.

Nobody is taking apps for Fall anymore to my knowledge. Usually the application deadline is a long way from when the semester starts. At my school, applications for Fall had to be submitted by the end of January.

Good luck.

I have to agree with the previous response. Depends on what you mean by "horrible GPA", you may find it very unlikely to compete with other applicants as nursing is a relatively competitive field. In some urban states like California and Hawaii, no one is guaranteed to be admitted in some public nursing program even if your GPA is above 3.6. But of course, there are less competitive program which you may get in with a GPA around 3.0 or, fortunately, a little lower.

In case of admission for Fall 2010 nursing, depends on if you are willing to RELOCATE, I know Baptist Health School in Little Rock, Arkansas are still accepting Fall 2010 RN admission and the deadline is July 15, 2010. You can google it up for more info.

If you're willing to relocate and act fast... and start out as an LVN, Victoria College Gonzales campus still has 6 open slots... no gpa requirements outside of 2.0 overall minimum (the college's requirement)... a few standard things to do like immunizations and background and such...
