Nursing program for second coursers

Published

Hi! I am currently studying nursing here in the Philippines as a second courser. Technically, it will take me 4 years again. Yes, I will start from scratch though they credited some of my GE subjects but I still have to follow the 4 year program. Or 3 years if I have to take some subjects during summer. My question is, is there some kind of an acceleration examination or program provided by the government or any school that I can take to lessen my load or years to complete the nursing program?

hi Didi, as of the moment there is none. you really have to be persuasive on your goals and plans. don't worry, by 2022 when you graduate the nursing boom will still be fine, the forecast is on the next 5-10 years nursing will be "on demand". don't lose hope, study well and graduate with colors.

Hi ! I just have a question, I have a friend who told me that Registered Nurses who took their BSN as a second course is not eligible to take Nclex which means not eligible to be a USRN??? How true is this? Thanks!

Same to UK and Aus he said. This gave me chills! I hope this is not true! I am a second courser! ?

Not true. I was a second courser. Graduated way back 2006, took 1st NCLEX 2008 failed, got busy with life, migrated to Cali 2015, decided to pursue being a nurse, started to apply nclex 2015, got ATT Mar 2018, passed Sep 2018.

You wouldn't know until you try. Although I got lucky since I didn't have to take any classes though. Probably because I already took NCLEX in 2008 or my school has an awesome curriculum that satisfied the BON.

Congratulations! Btw, Where did you take you BSN ? What school?

Nice! Good luck on your journey to become a RN.

Hello po, hoping I’m not too late. I am a licensed optometrist and am practicing in mindanao. I am planning to take up BSN, is/are there any schools or institutions accepting second coursers at this time? They say the new curriculum has already been implemented. Is there a chance for me to take up the course less than 4 yrs? Maybe like 2 and a half yrs instead of 4? Pls help me out. ???

thank you for any responses. Much appreciated❤️

Hi. We're on the same boat. I'm a registered pharmacist practicing here in Manila and seriously considering taking up BS Nursing as my second course this 2020 school year. I have asked several schools like PWU Manila and PCHS Manila and they are willing to credit some of my units (30-50 units estimated). But the deans of both schools told me that it will still take me 3-3.5 years before I finish BS Nursing, provided that the Nursing curriculum has changed since 2018. P850/ unit at PCHS Manila while P1062/ unit at PWU Manila. Plus miscellaneous fees and books.

Specializes in accountant.

can someone send list of good schools for nursing as second course ? thanks in advance for your help
