Hello there,
I am a new nurse, recently employed in September 09, and I am looking for a nursing journal (one or 2) that I can subscribe to, that will keep me up to date on "nursing issues". I'm not looking the most difficult reading out there, but I don't want fluff either, something in the middle would be wonderful.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help!!!!!

Gotta tell you, one of my favorites is Nursing made incredibly easy. They put topics in very easy to understand formats and I use their articles a lot for mentoring/precepting. Nursing 2009, now 2010 is also a good one for a variety of areas. You didn't mention where you practice but I also subscribe to some Critical Care journals that are awesome too. Those are more specialized though.

I suggest something that offers CNE and covers legislative and other events pertaining to nursing. American Journal of Nursing is good. So is Nursing World Today (through American Nurses Asso). Others I like are Nursing 2010 and RN Magazine, although RN is a little light and not peer-reviewed, so I am not always sure their articles are evidenced-based. Check out Amazon.com for discounts on magazines and ask for subscriptions for your birthday. Remember, they can be tax deductible.

I would suggest a journal that is related to your specialty. I find that Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing and Oncology Nursing Forum suit me very well because they keep me informed on what's new in my specialty and I learn a great deal from them.
