Hey everyone! I start Nursing school in September, graduating in July. I was wondering what field you future nurses plan to work in. Although I don't really have a preference, I feel I have more experience in Geriatrics, as I had taken care of a friend of mines mother when she was passing. And Pediatrics, since I take care of my nephew who is now two full-time. So I feel those two field would feel at home for me as a nurse. Just wanted to hear everyone else's stories and goals. :)

Most definatley geriatics even when I further my education beyond LPN thats where my heart is I will be in a skilled nursing facility or like a assisted living with memory care units.

I would love to work in pediatrics
I would love to work in both areas. I hear a lot of people want to work in Labor and Delivery, and also heard it's very hard to work in that area. But I also heard that the experience you go through during school can cause you to change your mind and you realize that you want to work in another area.

I want to experience working in corrections or urgent care. I used to want to work in labor and delivery but I've heard many stories of how hard it is in that area
msbossb, that sounds great! I see a lot of jobs for nursing in corrections. Labor and delivery I would enjoy too, just hear how hard it is to get into those departments.

When I first started school I thought I wanted to do Geri but as we progressed I started liking different things. I like Med Surg. And loved OB. I have one semester left and that's med surg 2. I don't know if i will change my mind about med surg after this rotation. But I love OB.
Simplysw33t, I have a few friends who graduated a few years ago and loved Med Surg as well. I have a feeling I will like it also. I can't wait to start in September.
