Nurses licensed in Canada &USA

Published

Hi,

Does anyone have dual licenses in Canada and the USA and have been disciplined? Can the BON in the USA contact the Canadian BON and report any issues?!

Hi. I haven't been disciplined but depending on your College of Nurses in Canada, you may need to self-report such incident if reportable. For the College of Nurses of Ontario, a nurse practicing in Ontario - you have 30 days of professional accountability to self-report such act. Also, it comes to renewal time when you need to answer those survey questions if you did this and whatnot.

I do not think each BON will necessarily report any issue to other BONs. They will find out if you happen to apply for initial license/endorse/fingerprinting/renew your license etc. If the State is registered with NURSYS - they can easily see that your license has imposed restrictions.

Thank you for the reply!
