Hello everyone. I would like to ask if you know any hospitals in metro manila accepting nurse trainees this august 2013? I graduated last april 2012..I completed my bls acls (AHA), IVT trainings first and now I plan to apply to hospitals..my work experience is limited (2 mos staff nurse trainee in a dermatology clinic). Help pls. Thank you!

@jazz_08: I saw this ad for DIALYSIS TRAINING. Philippine Nurses, Nursing Job, Nursing Careers You might want to join. I relate it to your inquiry regarding NKTI. :)

@KFMA: I think it would be easy for you to travel from ANONAS to KATIPUNAN. Just learn different routes and transportation available. Unlike me, I am from CAVITE. I agree with you, the backer system is so unfair esp. to deserving RNs who don't have connections. Try to go to Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez hospital. I have a friend there who is volunteering but the certification she will have is for employment. I find that 50-50 fair. It can be helpful if you have plans going abroad. Anyway, the hospital I will be having my exam on Monday for their training is located near our house, St. Dominic Medical Center. A 100 bed-capacity tertiary hospital. Hmmm. I am just lucky I knew that they will be accepting trainees this August because I had my IVT training there. I am hoping I will be accepted as a trainee then be absorbed in the future. For my friend, it is in Pasig. I don't know exactly what hospital.

BTW, Are you interested applying to KSA (Saudi)? I passed my resume along with my friend last week in an agency. I think they are accepting RNs with no experience. I just tried my luck there. :)

@sab-burgs I'll try to explore the transport routes from World Citi when i find the time and if i am 100% i'd push through with their training program. Wow so you're from Cavite? I thought you resided around Metro Manila! :D I also have some batch mates who volunteered in Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez. I think it would also be good to get experience there but I live so far away and again, the issue is going home after late night shifts.

I do have plans going abroad (hence the desire to gain at least 1 year of hospital experience) but not in KSA. I prefer Qatar as I am more acquainted with the customs and way of living there. Haha! Family friends advised me to at least complete 1 year experience before trying my luck there.

I wish you well in your exams! i'm sure you'd be a great addition to their hospital staff. :D As for me, I'm planning on following up my application in Commonwealth Hospital and Medical Center (CHMC) within this week. I think I prefer their training program (bec it's 3-4 months unlike World Citi which is roughly 5-6weeks). Besides, I am more familiar with the area, having lived there during my college period.

Anyway, let's continue to push through our growth in this profession. It's a tough world out there just securing for a trainee slot (i sincerely hope the backer system would forever disappear) but our patience and determination would lead us to great opportunities. :D

Hi folks ^^

Is Commonwealth Hospital and Medical Center still accepting applicants?

@Sainkee: i think they still are. the next batch of trainees would most probably begin by september so if you have time, you can drop by the HR department and give your application. I submitted mine a month ago, and I just took the exam this morning. The requirements are:

>Updated resume with picture

>letter of intent addressed to:

***** PTRP

Human Resource Director

Commonwealth Hospital and Medical Center

>IVT

>BLS

>ACLS

>Standard First Aid

>PRC license

>Board rating

>Board certificate

>TOR

>Diploma

>Certificates from trainings/seminars

>you can also include the other documents like NBI clearance, brgy clearance, sss, certificate of good moral/recommendation from school, etc (just bring them in case).

Place your file in a long white folder with a dark red plastic cover (you can buy this at national...took me awhile to figure out the plastic cover part. :p)

Head over to the HR department located at 7th floor. The staff are friendly so just feel free to ask questions. :)

^ Thank you for the reply.

I'll pass the requirements next week in CHMC. Dark red plastic cover? I'm confused >.

I forgot to remove the name..apologies! Anyway, i hope you were able to take note of it. The requirements listed in the internet are the same except for the folder and the name of the HR Director. My friends and I went there last month and we were surprised to see that they have changed the color from green (which is now meant for nursing assistants i think) to red and that the HR director has been changed. We had to walk back to the mall and buy that long white folder with a dark red cover and reprint our letters of intent.

They conduct the exams by batch and alphabetically.

Thank you for the informations guys!

I'll try my luck in World Citi, Medical City and Commonwealth MC.

@kfma, what does dark red plastic cover looks like? Is it the plastic sliding folder? If you don't mind, could you describe what it looks like.

Also i'm confused with board certificate and board rating. When i got my board rating, there are 2 papers. I thought the other one was board certificate. But when I passed my requirments to a hospital I'm applying to, the HR staff said I don't have board certificate. Is the board certificate really looks like a certificate without the board rating on it? And if so, will it take days to get my board certificate in PRC?

It's just a long white folder. Usually, the plastic cover of those white folders are transparent. In this case, it's just of a different shade, which is red. Just ask the staff at the bookstore about it. They'll direct you to the shelves containing the white folders. Just look for it there. :)

The board rating does have 2 papers - one which says you passed and only includes your GWA and the other contains your grades in the NPs. The board certificate is a separate document. It's like a diploma. Your picture (same as the one in your PRC License) is on the upper right corner. Go to PRC and ask the staff/guards where you can get your board certificate. You will need 1 documentary stamp (i suggest you bring one beforehand) and your prc license. I don't know if all board certificates are available for release already (if you are a recent passer, if not, it's most likely available).

World Citi's training will start this july 29. The next batch would be by september. :)

How much is the training for medical city? And I thought that after graduation, I would be able to earn. Sigh. Still we are obliged to pay. :(

I don't have an idea about the training fee for medical city. Sorry. I just left my application in the box. Our profession is a very competitive one so before we are able to land a stable job, we have to strive hard and earn experience first. There are some hospitals who accept volunteers or provide free nurse trainings (i don't have much idea about since most of the hospitals i applied for require payment) so maybe you could try your luck there. :) it takes a while before the hospitals contact you so i suggest you pass your resumes to as many hospitals as you can and see which one would provide the best opportunity for you. :)

hi omgellieoh you are here :) anyway, always remember, in NURSING, it will take time for you to literally earn. If you really want to pursue nursing, you will spend a lot (MONEY and TIME) when it comes to training/employment. However, if you have a backer, employment in a hospital would not be a problem. There will be a lot of opportunities in other field, like BPO companies. Don't think like it is "JUST CALL CENTER." There are BPO companies that need REGISTERED NURSES for medical/healthcare accounts. Sometimes, it will help you as well to earn US license as a nurse. What some RNs do is that they will send out applications to different hospitals and work in BPOs to earn and SAVE while waiting for openings.

Oh hi! :) I agree with you and everything's just sinking in. My professors always told us that nursing indeed is a vocation. And now I am realizing that. I just feel bummed since My mom still has to shoulder my trainings and such. Being the eldest and all, I feel that I should do something. I guess investing in your career is just a part of being a nurse. Thanks for your thoughts. I was somehow enlightened. :)
