Nurse : Skilled migration

World International

Published

Hello my fellow nurses!

My name is Mark John from Philippines. I am an Rn here

My Brother told me that he will help me migrate to Australia and he will sponsor me as long as I have a 2 years Nursing experience.

1. Is that the skilled migration he was talking about ?

2. Is 2 years experience enough for the skilled migration?

3. What if I only have a 2 years nursing experience as a volunteer only ? Will it be considered as an experience ? or do I really need a paid experience ?

4. Will I need to do bridging program that cost a lot of money even if I have 2 years experience ?

Thank you in advance ...

No, volunteer work is not recognized by Australian immigration and therefore will not give you points for skilled independent migration. You need 65 points for skilled migration.Visit the immigration website Department of Immigration & Citizenship

You will also be required to do a bridging course, nomatter what to be able to be Registered with AHPRA.

Most international nurses from the Phillipines, do the bridging course, become registered with AHPRA then scout around for a employer willing to employ them for at least 2 years and then they have Australian paid experience, then there are many visa's available to become permanent resident.

Jobs from employers willing to do this are dwindling quickly as Australia is in the middle of health reforms and there are major health cutbacks and as usual nurses are the first ones to be cut back. Australian nurses are finding it difficult to find jobs at times now especially those with little experience.

From my understanding if an Australian citizen want to sponsor a relative, you still must have enough points to qualify, though with a sponsor from a remote area you will be given extra points, you still must come up with the rest to make 65 to apply for skilled migration.

I am not a immigration consultant, you must do the research yourself on the immigration website or seek an immigration consultant.

hi there

my name is bina.

i am in same situation like yours now.

my agency has offered me skilled migration visa (state sponsorship), if I get this visa do I have to do bridging program? I am planning to apply for NSW and i found there are no colleges that offer bridging program. In that case can i go to melbourne to complete my bridging program?
