Nurse Practitioners!!!

i am currently a junior in the bsn program at the medical college of georgia. i really enjoy nursing, but i think that i want to further my career after i am an rn. i am seriously considering the nurse practitioner program! i really would just like some information about the program....do you have to practice in a specific area before starting the program? how long is the program? is it better to go right after completing a bsn or to wait a few years? any information will help me! thanks so much!
