if you submit your application, and you qualify to get accepted, but there are no more spots available, they will send you an e-mail with the option to defer your application to the next semester. This way, you become first for the next semester and you do not have to re-submit the $50 or any other paperwork/application.

i'm in the same boat as you- i had no idea that nova was first come, first serve and i applied really close to the deadline due to transcript issues. hopefully there are still spots available...
