I don't mean to be rude or offensive but could we have a NP section that practicing NPs use. I have not come to this nursing board because everytime I check the NP section all I see is questions from non-NP's. I would like a forum to talk to other NPs about common issues but feel like I have to spend most of the time scanning through questions from would be NPs. Anyone else a little annoyed at this or am being a grouch because Ive spent the past 16hrs fighting for PA's and explaining to patients why I wont prescribe them ativan, ritalin or adderall bc their UDS was positive for meth, thc, opiates etc?

I think you're just a bit grouchy. There are a few NPs around here but this forum but not many that really post related to NP topcis on a regular basis.

We have a Pre-NP and Student NP forum for all posts where those considering or in an NP program can post.
The NP forum is for NPs to come and post. Sure, we get some new threads started by non-NPs, but for the most part, they relate to NP topics. And, if they do not, staff tries to move them to appropriate forums. If you see threads that need re-located, please report so staff can be alerted to moving them. It greatly helps this volunteer staff. :)
And, please start a thread here in this forum relating to NP practice. We're sure you have some excellent ideas.

Both sirI and myself are practicing APNs and very much welcome NP/APN-related topics.
There is a good discussion about the new ANCC Consensus Model and how it will affect our practice.

I agree with the OP. Many times i've seen the gospel coming from non-NPs who know everything there is to know about NP practice. Usually because that is how its done at their facility.
But, as with non-nurses giving us (seasoned RNs and APNs) advice, you kinda take these posts with a grain of salt.
As we all know, the people that "know it all" before they get thru school, find out later they know very little.
