NP programs in the US

Has anyone here gone to an NP program in the states and come back up to practice? More programs and less of a wait to get in down south, just wondering if anyone has done this or knows about it. Thank you!

I'd be curious to see the answer to this too. It seems like it shouldn't be too hard to come back. Here's the information from BC:

- To register as an NP, must meet this:

- Established eligibility for RN registration with CRNBC. For more information about RN registration click here.

- Graduated from a B.C. recognized nurse practitioner program or graduated from a nurse practitioner program equivalent to a Master's level nursing education program that prepares graduates with the competencies to practise as described in the Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) Framework for Assessing Nurse Practitioners.

- Successfully completed the written examination and objective structured clinical examination (OSCE).

  • Met the minimum practice hour requirement. The minimum hour requirement can be met through having completed one of the following in the past three years:

    • Graduated from a B.C. recognized nurse practitioner education program or equivalent;
    • Engaged in the practice of nursing as a nurse practitioner for at least a minimum of 900 hours in the stream in which the applicant is seeking registration, and at the level of practice as described in the PLAR Framework; or
    • Completed a clinical directed study through a B.C.-recognized nurse practitioner program.

I got the impression that if you went to the States and passed the ANCC it would just be a matter of passing the OSCE and going through the paperwork to get the certification transferred to Canada.

Are there FNP jobs though? NP's on BC seem to be a rare breed....anyone know a good FNP employer in BC?

More programs and less of a wait to get in down south

But isn't it hard to get in because there are limited spaces in each program and even less spots for international students?
