No longer required for Nursing program

Published

I am in my first semester in college with my program of student being Nursing (ASN) and when i first registered for classes the computer lit class was a requirement but no longer is. i have been having a hard time catching up in that class (i am failing) and obviously i dont need it any more, should i just withdraw and take the W? will it look bad when i apply for the nursing program? or should i just finish the class (failing)?

This sounds like a question for your academic advisor.

First make SURE that you don't need it anymore. They may have changed the requirements, but that usually isn't retroactive. Most of the time, you are expected to follow the requirements that were in place when you entered the program, and a change made now would only be in effect for people who have not yet started.

What Julius Seizure states is what has always been my experience. Whatever requirements are in place when you are admitted are those to which you are held; they typically release new course catalogs every two years and changes made therein apply only to new enrollees.
