NI Entry Level Pay

Specialties Informatics

Published

Hi guys,

I received my MSN in Informatics Dec.2014. I haven't had a job yet but recently got an offer that I declined. They offered me about 72,000 which is lower than what I currently make. I really wanted the job but cannot afford a pay cut. I was thinking INF. RNs started out with at least 90....am i wrong? I guess it also depends on where you live....Any info or experiences?!

Thanks

I can't imagine any entry level position starting @ 90K. I am starting a program in Jan and I know there is great potential, but, as in anything, I think you have to start somewhere.

Following to what others have to say

@ mmc51264, BSN, RN

I did some research for my area. Median pay is 98-105,000 so of course there are highs and lows. I was just a little disappointed in their offer especially knowing where I am at now salary wise...At this point I'm just hoping to get in somewhere soon for the experience, but I can't take a pay cut. These student loans will not allow it! :nono: Best of luck to you on starting school in Jan! :)

Is that position you applied for titled as a "Nurse Informaticist" under Nursing Administration or was the title something like "Clinical Systems Analyst" or "Application Specialist" with a clinical background requirement under the IT department? I've noticed that if the job falls under IT department, the salary is usually lower. Nevertheless, Informatics/Healthcare IT entry level positions are hard to come by since most hospitals are now looking for individuals with experience in implementing EMR/EHR systems vs. having an MSN in Informatics with no experience. I wish you good luck on your job search!

Have you been able to find a position that meets your requirements?

Entry level for NIS- associate is between 62-65. Depending Experience this is Wisconsin
