I cared for a newborn in my first day of mother/baby rotation. I have to complete 2 careplans for this child, however there was nothing out of the ordinary. Baby was doing fine. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

How was the baby holding it's temp? Is the baby being breast fed or bottle fed? If it was a male was he circumsized? How about the condition of the umbilical cord? What were the lab results especially bili levels? Did the mother have anything that could have been passed during childbirth or while in utero?
You didn't really post any info about the baby except that he was normal so you're best bet would be to look at the risk for diagnoses and see which ones the baby could fit in.
Good luck.

newborns are not able to maintain a stable body temperature so are at risk for hypothermia--that's why they are kept wrapped in blankets. their respiratory systems are not fully developed either which makes them subject to gas exchange and airway problems. not every baby takes well to feeding at first whether it is breast feeding or formula feeding and is at risk for dehydration and constipation. if the mother's labor was prolonged or she had an infection at the time of delivery, the baby is at risk for infection. any baby who was born lady partslly suffered physical trauma coming through the birth canal and may have an injury--a thorough assessment needs to be done for possible fractures of the clavicle, skull or the arms and legs. if the baby has to be put under bili-lights he is at risk for injury to the skin from the light.
