I am not great at standardized tests. Here is the story: I took my Hesi exam in February, almost passed 2 portions and failed one miserably, so I transferred to a private university ( due to many reasons). People say that if you did well on your Hesi, you would also do well for the N-CLEX. What helpful tips are there? Also, if someone fails it the first time how long until they can take it the second time?

Your specific Board of Nursing will let you know when you can retest. It's about 45 days on average I think.
I don't know much about HESI as I am foreign educated. As for the NCLEX, I think the best thing you can do is get a good review book and utilise multiple sources for questions. I have Saunders 5th edition, and I like it for the content but I find the questions a bit too easy. I also enrolled in NCSBN, I don't much like the content but I am using their practice questions. LaCharity PDA is good for prioritization etc.
It all depends what your learning style is. The chances are you know the content from nursing school. Be sure to practice alternative format questions, as I think these catch a lot of people out.
Good Luck :)
