New to the program

If you are afraid of blood is the nursing program a bad field for me?

Are we talking full-blown phobia or just natural reluctance to touch icky things? If it's the former, you probably need to avoid anything health-care related as well as parenthood, risky physical behaviors & non-electric razors.... but if it's the latter, not a problem.

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

My father-in-law has a home health nurse that passes out at the sight of blood. She HATES being a nurse, and has said on more than one occasion that after this job, she will do anything BUT nursing.

I agree with HouTx, if it's just a dislike of blood and gross stuff, most nurses aren't looking to bathe ourselves in it. However, if you can't handle being around it, I would pursue another career.
