New to Nicu

Hi everyone:

Ive joined the world of NICU after 4 years of adult nursing in the ER, cardiac tele, med surge. My dream has always been to work in the NICU with those sweet babies. Im still in orientation but the transition has been going very well so far. I work in a level 3. Looking forward to chatting with you all.

That's awesome good luck on your journey. I worked with adults for about 3 years and then moved into newborn Nursey and now transitioning to couplet care. I love it.

Congrats!! I am sooooo jealous! I work in the ER now and HATE IT! I have been trying to get into the special care nursery at my hospital or a NICU elsewhere with no luck, since I started nursing 7 years ago! I did work briefly in the SCN at my hospital, but ended up leaving three weeks in becuases my preceptor was just so rude. I regret this, A LOT, and am hoping to get another chance, especially since I think that person has since left the unit! The competition to get into NICU or nursery around here is crazy!
