New grads

Where can I find easily an Entry-Level position at L&D, Mother/Baby or some area related to it? I have been searching job for a month and I just got an interview, that it didn't work because of a budget issue f the company. Anyway, most of these positions require some experience.Nut, I have to begin in somewhere to acquire it. Should I try to go to other specialty and then after 6 months or year transfer for L&D?

Please, help me because I am really frustrated it with all this search.

Also, should I put on my resume's objective that I am an entry-level RN?

Hi Carol,

Many places will start you in Maternity/OB as a PP/ante partum new grad orientee w/ the hope of seguing into a L&D position within a year or so. It's a specialty and there' s a whole forum on this site devoted to it. But absolutely you can start entry level. I'm doing it now. My is to search for a teaching hospital or a hospital large enough to have frequent new grad orientations and send out the word. It will be obvious from your lack of work and only clinicals as your experience that you are entry level. As a matter of fact, you'll need to start in orientation. And no matter where you go, they will start you at entry level pay.

Walk in. Follow up w/ phone calls. Apply online. Fax. Get really good letters of rec.

And let allnurses know when you land that first interview!! (and later the job ;>) )

I got my first interview already for a PP department. But the manager said that they couldn't hire me because of a tight budget, because the hospital is a Catholic. Even tough, she said that I was really well at the interview. But, for me it didn't make sense if they couldn't hire anyone why they where doing interviews? Anyway, I am just going to keep trying it.
