New grad please help!

Take heart many new graduates are in your position, with hospitals trying to cut budgets many new grad programs are eliminated. Be careful getting into home health it will make you less marketable and most nurses find themselves getting stuck in that sector. Go with your passion, yes try to get into those ambulatory centers! Let them get to know you and perhaps you will get a heads up on an available position.

I am a new grad too and feel your pain. I am working as a volunteer RN at a Military Treatment Facility right now through a partnership with the American Red Cross. I am able to operate fully within my scope of practice and I am getting acute care experience. I am not getting paid, per se, but the facility is going to allow me to participate in professional development alongside their active duty nurses and civilian nurses, which means that in the next few weeks I will get ACLS and NRP for ZERO out-of-pocket. And did I mention I am getting acute care experience?!

Actually I just got a job but its upstate.

But I will let a good buddy know about this who is having a real hard time.

I actually looked everything up and I finally found out about it.

The American red cross is a cool opportunity if anything even happens with me I would go do it.

Military Treatment Facility (MTF) refers to the hospital and associated clinics on a military post which provide care primarily to active duty servicemembers and their dependents. In my case, my husband is active duty, so we live on post. I could literally walk to the hospital here on post in about 15 minutes. I opt to drive which takes me about five minutes.

Generally, the new grad is responsible for their own insurance.

It's rather inexpensive especially since the two major carriers offer discounts up to 50% off premiums for the first year after graduation. It's always better to have your own this way someone is paid to be on your side if needed.
