New grad needs advice

Hi all! I passed my NCLEX this July and am proud to call myself a Registered Nurse!!!!!! I also found out this summer that I am pregnant. I will be starting my new job on Aug 16 at a local hospital and need some advice. First I am getting big quickly and cannot find any maternity nursing scrubs anywhere? Does anybody know where to find some? Also, some good nursing shoes to support my big self? I also am a little nervous to tell my new employer I am pregnant. I interviewed and was given the job back in February and have not spoken to my new boss since. Any advice on how to handle this would be appreciated. Look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

Stephanie, RN

first, congratulations on passing your nursing boards and earning the humble honor of wearing the title "rn" behind your name! second, employers are certainly used to their female employees becoming mothers, so be proud and show off that bulging belly filled with the most blessed event you could ever deliver to mankind! :kiss

I get my scrubs from Uniform City, they have a website, and I noticed in the most recent catalog that they have maternity scrubs. They are reasonable priced and deliver quickly. I would recommend them. Way back in 1973 when I graduated, we bought our first house, I found out I was pregnant and I passed boards all in the same month...wow, what a month! There was no problem telling my employer, I just told my immediate manager, and many months later, they gave me a baby shower. Good luck with your new career, and motherhood. They are both quite an adventure!

I agree, you just need to be honest with them and let them know that you still want the job. I am sure they will be glad to have you. Good luck to you and congratulations on both passing boards and your new little bundle of joy!! :balloons:
