New field of practice

I didn't know exactly where to post this but I thought I would drop it here.

I would like a fresh persprective.

I am thinking that I don't want to get my BSN.

I am thinking of getting my BS I Health Admin. I will then have a bachelor's degree that will be worth something in a mangerial manner. I am happy with my current level of nursing degree. RN ADN. I feel that in my future I will want to manage a CCU. I feel that a BS in Admin will be more valuable toward that goal.

Opinons please

hi. i didn't really want to get my bsn either, but i did. i worked as charge nurse in my ccu for several years but gave it up about a year ago so i could have some semblance of a life! being attached to a beeper and/or telephone 24/7 was making me a nasty person. i've found that being a staff rn in the ccu is much more rewarding. and, you will have lots more friends! good luck.

I would say that you are right. I suspect that depending on where you want to go, there may be a couple of ways to get there. Possibly a BSN followed by a Masters of Health Administration is better. There is a nursing management forum here where better opinions might be found:
