I am graduating with a BSN from a Central Indiana university in about 16 months. I understand this may be a bit too early, but does anyone have any advice on how to network in the nursing field? I really want to get out of the midwest and plant my seed in a larger city. I am good with people, but I am not sure where to begin marketing myself. I am thinking of nursing symposiums? Should I stop short of going into hospitals when I go to bigger cities and talking to the HR department?
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Join professional organizations and attend the local meetings. This gives you the opportunity to network with nurses in desired specialties if the organization is associated with a nursing specialty. Many organizations offer discounted rates to students.

Have you become acquainted with classmates that are already employed in healthcare? Fellow students in my daughter's nursing school class were setting her up with potential work.
