Networking... challenge CNA ???

Published

So lately I've seen that a lot of the LPNs in my area landed jobs from former employers. How can I land a medical field job without a lot of medical experience. I was studying health studies/nursing yrs ago in college but didn't complete my degree. Im hopefully starting a 18 month lpn program in January and looking for like a med Secretary job or something to get me in the field so when I graduate LPN I have something to work with. I have tons of admin experience. And a travel bacjground.

Also can you challenge the CNA test after a few months into lpn school ?

Am I in lala land or is this something to look into?

Oh I'm in Orlando florida in case anyone wanted to know

Check with your state. My state doesn't require CNA prior to LPN so you may not need to go that route at all. Some schools will let you take the CNA test after you finish certain prerequesites. Good luck!

Many states let you challenge the cna exam after taking certain classes and having clinicals. I was eligible to sit for the exam after taking fundamentals and having 1 semester of clinicals.

I think you are on the right path by getting your foot in the door at a job so that you are able to get employment easier once you are a nurse.

Thanks ladies! I believe I can find like a nurse tech job once I have some clinicals.

Most states will let you challenge the CNA exam after you complete Fundamentals of Nursing and a certain amount of hours in your clinicals. Here in Illinois its 40 hours. Check with your state.
