NET test-What's it all about? HELP!!

The book actually helps A LOT for the verbal portion... If a few of you are willing to pitch in to pay for one that you can share, it's worth the investment... It's written in the same format as the test (heck, the same format of questions are used in the book)... and it goes over the semantics of the types of questions being asked (because they really do matter, as far as the NET is concerned).

Otherwise, the math portion of the test isn't that bad (just think basic algebra and arithmetic).

hnebun, is right, a few of us, bought the book and then scheduled are tests a part. when one of us finished, the other would use the book. the math is pretty basic, it goes from addition to algebra. the book will give you a pre test and then a post test after you read it. the reading portion, is your basic standardized test. they will ask you to read a paragraph, and then ask you weird questions afterwards...like, which sentence is an umbrella statement. what was the authors, feelings. what refrence is this sentence making. i found that having the book really helped me. the book really does go over what kind of questions they ask and what they mean. another thing to know is, i don't know about your school, but are school didn't allow calculators....bad news, for me. knowing that, i spent a few days just doing math problems with out a calculater. as far as it being a test to find out how you learned....i don't know, it did give us a break down of our strengths and weaknesses. and it will ask you questions in the end, to find out what kind of learner/student you are. like do you study alone, do you like to read rather than listen. our teachers told us, they like to know the majority of auditory to visual learners. it will also ask about stress in your life. have you recently had a death in your family. etc. but each school can modify the test to their needs. good luck

The test is pretty easy. There is math (decimals, fractions, division, etc) and English (main idea, inference, comprehension, etc), and a part that measures your testtaking skills, stress level, and learning type (visual, etc). I didn't buy the book; I just kept checking it out of the library. I like the above ideas about splitting the cost of the book. Good luck to you!

I am not a great standardized test taker, but I bought the book and did fine on the NET. I strongly recommend it. The math is the same as the book and the reading gives you a general idea. Personally that was the worst part of the exam. You do not have much time, so you have to read fast and make sure you comprehend what you have read to answer questions.
