NET test advice?

Hi all,

I am 45 years old and trying to become on RN. I want this so badly I can taste it. I have completed my pre-reqs and have a 4.0. Here is my dilemma: I take the NET tomorrow and must pass the reading comp and math. Even though I got an A in math, I am one of those people who works hundreds of problems, takes the test, and immediately forgets. I hate this about myself, and it is only math that troubles me this way. I am so nervous about tomorrow, I can't even begin to describe it to you. Can anyone who has already taken the NET give me some pointers as to how it is set up? I am not asking for specific questions and answers, just what is it like? What type of math do I need to know? Can you go back once you have answered a question? Is each section timed individually or do you have a certain amount of time for the whole test? Any advice would help to calm my fears. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I took the NET 3 years ago. Know your percentages and fractions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Read as many technical medical books and get used to the terms and style. That is my best advice. I took the test without knowing and didn't know what to study but still passed so don't fret too much

I took the test 2 months ago. The math part is basic math. Besides the simple math (addition, subraction, multiplicatio and additon) know your fractions, percentages, decimals, ratio and how to convert them. There are also basic algebra question and solve for x problems. The test is not so hard excpt that you only get a minute for each question which makes you feel pressured. The Reading part is just comprehesion.

I just took it last week. I wised you had some time to study since you seem so nervous. You need to know fractions and ratios. Lots of PERCENTAGES.. Percent of this number, percent to decimals and vice versa.. It is timed. I took it on a computer so a tiny clock was posted. It seemed fine. I did practice problems from the Net Study guide and it helped a ton!. The reading is just reading and knowing mostly main ideas. All and All it was ok, but I review the Net Study guide first.. Good luck!

Thanks to all who posted here and gave me great advice. I am happy to announce that I passed the NET with flying colors. I scored in the 98 percentile in math, which is what I was the most afraid of. Again, thanks everyone! Hope to be accepted for spring 07!!

:thankya:

Congrats :) Hopefully we will meet up in the Spring :)
