nervous about the first accelerated BSN program

Published

I am so excited to finish all the pre-requisite courses, and will start the first accelerated BSN program in May. I am so nervous:lol2:. Is there anyone can help me get rid of the feeling? Thanks:redbeathe.

Just take deep breaths. I just graduated with a class of 16 from an accelerated program. So far everyone as passed NCLEX. Just work really hard on getting in a study group and being organized and you will do fine.

Best of luck

Hi,

Congrats on finishing your pre-requisites! (it's feels great right?!!)

I just graduated from a 16 month accelerated BA to BSN program. I was SO Nervous too!! And I admit, the 1st 2 weeks was very nerve racking ( I cried several times) because after looking at all the syllabus and projects/exams I thought I wouldn't be able to handle it all. Especially when you have 4 classes, with over 100 pages to read each week, ect...

But once you get over that adjustment period- you'll see things are going to be fine. One step at a time! You'll figure out a way to study (do you like a quiet environment? or noisey w/music? & so on.)

I recommend to find a group of classmates who you feel comfortable with- and form a study group- you can support each other and have fun!

Get yourself a calendar and write out when you have assigments due & exams. That way you get a picture of what you need to accomplish that month.

And finally- don't forget to take time for yourself & your family/friends. They need to understand you are going to be extremely busy, but look at your calendar and schedule a day off where you can hang out & relax.

I graduated w/ honors- it was a lot of hard work, but it can be done! I, along with most of my classmates, passed the NCLEX at 75 questions.

Feel proud of yourself! You will do great!! :yeah:

Sorry to say no one will be able to help you get rid of the nervousness! I'm about to finish my first semester in an accelerated BSN and I too was very nervous before starting. But it is normal and as scary as it seems it's also exciting! The nerves don't go away, you will have them before your first clinical, your first test, first time you give meds and so on. It will be overwhelming and surreal at first but you will love it ! Good luck!!!

So ..... curious_ is it Allen? If it is then I can surely offer advice! I am in the last semester of the Accel.BSN at Allen that started last May. Let me know.... and like I said if it is then I have some advice!

Accelerated grad here...21 years ago! Take it one day at a time. Don't overthink it. Don't get caught up in grade competition (my class was sooooo competitive, now it seems so silly...). Everyone who applied themselves and didn't have a health crisis/pregnancy passed. Take care of yourself....you'll need your health and your stamina. Most of these programs are very intolerant of "days off".

Best wishes to you!

I hear ya..my program starts June 2nd. I get immensely nervous, anxious, and excited everytime I think about it - which is constantly! I think this is normal and healthy, we are all in the same boat. Good Luck!!!!!!!
