Rant ahead....I've worked in several LTC's and acute care facilities in this area and I can say I have never seen nepotism like I am seeing where I work now.We have a policy stating family members will not be hired however every so often apparently that policy is lifted for someone...No one else knows the window was opened until it is shut again. To top it off you have admin directly supervising their own children and elevating them to positions they are clearly NOT qualified for.And we have a little clique of nurses who are drinking buddies with several of the same admin. It's all over Facebook, and also very apparent at work when certain staff seem to be able to come and go whenever they please, work only on the units the like and disappear during the day to hang out in a certain office. And make mistakes that are covered up......Our DOH survey is looming and I fear for my job....Many family members see and hear things and other staff are talking, this is not just me being an old fart.I would hate to leave-it's the only non-profit in this area and I think for the most part the residents get the care they deserve.I just pray the building does not implode when the crap hits the fan....

LTC facilities do have their atmospheres. If one can survive, fine, when it gets to be too much, I would just move on down the road. As long as others share their pancit or lumpia with me, I am usually good to go.

How did things go? It's got to be really tough in the environment you describe...but I have seen some very, very bad stuff myself lately. I keep hoping karma has a good time sometime soon.
Still waiting for survey.Keeping my head down.I am privy to administrative issues and I hear some very concerning things.....
